Volunteer placement to India

On January 18th 2013 I will be travelling to Delhi, India as a volunteer on a 3 month long International Citizen Service programme with VSO. In Delhi I will be living with a local family with another volunteer from India. I will be completely immersed in the local culture and will be acting as part of the community. I will be volunteering during the week on projects focussing on environment, active citizenship, life skills and education within the community.
International Citizen Service (ICS) is a volunteer programme funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) and is run by several different charity organisations, including VSO (who I will be working with). To find out more about the ICS programme visit www.dfid.gov.uk/ics
As part of my commitment to the ICS programme, I need to do some fundraising for VSO. My fundraising target is £800 which I need to raise before I leave for my trip in January. As part of this fundraising effort I will be doing a sponsored fast. inspired by the fasting of Hindus as the people of Delhi are predominantly Hindu. From the 1st December I will be taking part in a 21 day liquid fast, where I will consume only liquids and vegetables. I will be keeping a diary via this blog, which will regularly be updated with my progress throughout my fast. If you would like to sponsor me during the run-up t my departure or sponsor certain days of my trip, please visit www.justgiving.com/Jess-Marshall1 any amount donated will be greatly appreciated.
Please subscribe to keep up to date on my progress and possibly find yourself craving a liquidised dinner (or not), I'll keep you posted!
